Cole Vision
Formed in 1988, Cole Vision, now known as Cole Managed Vision (CMV) is a subsidiary of Cole National Corporation, a company listed on the New York Stock Exchange that was founded in 1946 by Joseph Cole. An Italian eyeglass manufacturer, the Luxottica Group, which also owns Lens Crafters, Sunglass Hut, Pearle Vision, and EyeMed Vision Care, purchased Cole National Corporation in 2004. One result of this acquisition was the integration of Cole Managed Vision and EyeMed Vision Care, a leader in the managed vision care industry. The merger of the two vision care giants whose motto is “stronger together,” will create a strong leader in the world of vision care plans.
Cole Managed Vision, which will be based in Cincinnati, OH after the merger, concerns itself with group vision care benefit plans, which it recognized early on to be an integral part of managed care. Cole managed vision develops, markets, and administers benefit plans for a number of clients including employers, health plans, trust funds, and associations across the United States. The integration of Cole Managed Vision and EyeMed Vision Care will ensure that a variety of vision care benefit plans and services are available for its clients.
