Regence BC BS of Oregon
Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon is a member of the Regence Group, the largest affiliation of health care plans in the Pacific Northwest. The Regence Group provides health, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage, and strives to keep health care costs low. Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, Regence has five local offices in the state, and serves more than three million members in four states. The Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies were founded separately, and merged in 1983.
The Regence Group operates as a single company across four states, enhancing its financial stability and allowing it to serve both local and regional customers. The company tries to make health care financing simple, while still providing a wide variety of choices for customers.
The Regence Group offers three primary plans:
- Blue Selections Basic
- Blue Selections Plus
- Blue Selections Premier.
Blue Selections Basic provides basic hospital and physician services for lower monthly premiums. Dental coverage may be added, and parents or grandparents can purchase a YouthCare Child-Only Plan. The Blue Selections Basic youth plan has deductibles starting at $1,000, and also includes coverage for childhood immunizations.
Blue Selections Plus offers excellent benefits, but low premiums, and once the annual deductible has been met, customers can choose between two benefit levels. Dental coverage can also be added. Blue Selections Plus also offers a YouthCare Child-Only Plan, with deductibles starting at $500.
Blue Selections Premier includes a high deductible, and $20 office visit co-payments. YouthCare Child-Only coverage is also available, with $20 office visit co-payments, and a deductible that is waived in the case of accidents.
Regence also offers Special Beginnings, a maternity program; the BlueCard Program, which provides coverage when traveling; and TrueVision discounts for contact lenses and lasik surgery. Prescription medications are covered through Regence's network of pharmacies. Accidental death coverage is also available, for the insured and his or her eligible spouse or dependents.
